• Classes are generally from 2 p.m., until 3, unless I am off, then they go to 4 p.m.

• This next session we will review and attempt to memorize the 1st section of Yang and Sun style Solo sets ,the the Internal Cane set, the 7 Standing Qi Qong exercises and 12 Sitting Posture Lang Ye (Blue Dragon) Qi Qong.

• For Private Lessons and Work Shops on Swimming Dragon Qi Qong, Gait and Balance and other endeavors related to Tai Ji and Qi Qong:

• There is an expectation to Practice and Improve.

•We all enjoy each others presence and camaraderie,but we are all still here to improve our Qi Qong,Tai Ji,Fitness,Health and Abilities.

• Senior Students,regardless of ability (those with over 5 years of experience) are ,on occassion requested and expected to assist in teaching.

• As we all age,those expectations are more realistic,but still expected.

• Thank you for remembering these gentle admonitions.

• All Students must complete the Beginner Level of Swimming Dragon Qi Qong before beginning Instruction in Tai Ji

• We Focus on Either Sun Style , Advanced Qi Qong/ Push Hands , Yang Style Or Weapons each Week.

• All New Students needs are accomodated, until they are able to keep up with the other students

• Yang Style Sabre & Sun Style Sword & advanced Qi Qong instruction are available on an Individual and Private Lesson Basis

• I am available for Private Instruction , Small Group or Make Up Classes on Most Monday ,Wednesday Afternoons and early Saturday Afternoons.

• This will be the pattern until further notice.

• This year we will work on 12 standing postures Qi Qong, with an intent of everyone being able to hold each posture for 20 breaths. Please attempt to practice this at least once during your week

• I would appreciate all Tai Ji students showing up on time.

• Corrections and individualized instruction will follow at 3:30 p.m.on days that I am not working at Suburban ER

• On occassion I am On Call and may have to cancel or cut a class short, thanks for your understanding and patience.

• I you are able, please come on class days to practice, share your knowledge and skills with your fellow classmates.

• Other Instruction in Tai Ji Quan will exist at this time as occasssional seminars, regular immersion sessions, retreats and private sessions .

• Classes are held in a wooded, quiet country setting in an academy of moderate size. (30 by 50 feet inside and 20 by 50 feet outside, with several areas for secluded outside practice and meditation).

• There is no formal Tuition Scheme,but Donations are appreciated.

• Level One Qi Qong and Tai Ji consists of the learning of Tai Ji Qi Qong,Salutation to the Sun, 12 Standing Postures, Swimming Dragon and Standing /Walking Qi Qong. This Level is a prerequisite for all other Instruction.

• Prerequisites for Level II Tai Ji/ Qi Qong are Level I Qi Qong, or 2 years experience in other internal martial arts and a willingness to enroll in both Qi Qong and Sun Style Tai Ji.

• Once a Student has memorized the Swimming Dragon Meditation, he or she, may proceed to learn the Yang style Set.

• Level II Tai Ji/Qi Qong program includes the study of the Classical 103 Posture Yang Style Set . Applications will be reviewed as far as the physics, energetics and physiology of Tai Ji's principles can be applied to one's health.

• Level III Tai Ji Quan/ Qi Qong
Students who have completed the and memorized the 1st section of the Sun Style Solo set, may continue on to Level III Tai Ji /Qi Qong (intermediate and advanced Tai Ji Quan). In this class the Yang form will be reviewed and corrected. Foundation Set Exercise and Lang Ye (12 Posture sitting Blue Dragon) Qi Qong will be taught to regular attendees of this class once the 1st section of the Yang Set is mastered.

• Intermediate and advanced push hands and matial applications will be taught
in Level III. The 97 Posture Sun Style Set, with footwork, Energetics and basic applications will be taught.

•The Yang Style Tai Ji Sword set will be taught to willing students who have clearly mastered the 1st section of the Yang Set..Purchase an inexpensive Tai Ji Sword.

• Students are expected to study the Tai Chi Classics (Waysun Liao has a good text), the Tao Te Ching (Jane English has a good interpretation of this clasic text by Lao Tzu).

• This Level III Qi Qong/Tai Ji Quan class is recommended only for students who are dedicated to investing several years into learning the art of Tai Ji Quan and willing to practice a minimum of three to ten hours weekly and assist in teaching.

• Advanced students may attend special seminars & sessions for Sword, Sabre, Staff and advanced Solo Yang Style applications & corrections and Qi Qong. Persons interested in learning Yang Style Tai Ji Quan, need to be aware that the intent is to train, practice and apply the principles as a Martial Art. Temple Method Training will be utilized.

• Please review the school's curricula, skill level requirements and goals.

Remember, Sink, Relax and Practice. Maintain a sense of connection to one's "Dan Tien, the "big circle" & to differentiate Insubstantial from the Substantial".

For your Review: 12 Posture Standing Qi Qong Sequence

1) Centering -Feet together,knees not bent, back of hands together,resting on one's chest
2) Bao Huei - Feet shoulder width apart, Palms above head,palms facing down towards, Bao Huei(crown of your head)
3) Ho Tai- Feet shoulder width apart, palms facing upward, a bit in front of your head, knees bent 30 @.
4) 3rd Eye- Knees bent, Double Tiger Mouth Palms at level of 3rd Eye (between your eyebrows)
5) Throat- Knees not bent, Palms facing downwards,at leval of throat.
6) Holding the Post- Knees bent, Double Ward Of position, Palms Facing Heart/ Sternum
7) Holding the Post Left, Empty Stance,70 -90% of weight on Right Leg, Right Palm is just slightly behind Left Handtips of Right Hand ifngers, near base of Left Palmer fingers. Reverse to Weight on the Left, Facing to your Right for Right side.
8) Spleen-Liver, Palms facing downwards, at level of Spleen/Diaphragm and Liver, knees unbent.
9) Cross Hands Posture, knees bent.
10) Dan Tien-Palms Turned upward, at level of Dan Tien about 3 inches below and into your umbilicus.
11) Adrenal- Palms Pressed outwards behind one's self,fingers pointed otwards each other, knees unbent.
12) Wu Chi Posture ,Knees unbent.

• Using Principles of "Yang Cheng Fu's 10 Essences", Finding your Dan Tien, the Big Circle and differentiate Substantial form Insubstantial. Count your breath ,starting from 3 breaths for each posture and gradually, over time, work your way up to 20 to 50 slow easy abdominal breaths, for each posture. Good Luck!!!
